Power plant equipment is extremely expensive, with millions of dollars invested in purchasing and installing it. For this reason, proper maintenance—which includes effective cooling—is of critical importance.
On the other hand, power generation facilities are considered high-noise environments due to the presence of various types of equipment, and this noise pollution must be minimized as much as possible. One of the primary sources of noise in power plants is the exhaust and supply fans, and the use of silencers can significantly reduce this noise pollution.
The design of silencers can be either circular or rectangular, depending on the type of fan, and they are internally filled with acoustic absorbent materials. The reference standards for the design and manufacture of fan silencers are ISO 3743 and ISO 7253.
